There are a few preschools in Rexburg, and many of them do a fabulous job. When looking for a preschool, and so many of them seem so great, how do you choose? Research shows that one of the main indicators that your child will be successful is child-to-teacher ratio. Without enough teachers in the room, needs are simply not met for every child. When the child-to-teacher ratio is in check, children's needs - academic and social - are fulfilled. In early childhood classrooms, there should never be more than 6 children to 1 teacher. In our classroom, we keep the ratio between 3 to 4 children to 1 teacher. It's definitely something to think about.
We love being associated with Adams Elementary School. We love our facilities; the classroom that feels like "real school", the playground, the gym inside the school.... the environment that children go to school in sets them up for future success. Our principal tells me that his favorite thing about the preschool is how prepared the children are, in every way, to enter kinder. He feels, and so do I, that offering children the affordance of a true classroom setting sets the stage for their next milestone - kindergarten!
We are very focused on meeting developmental milestones in all domains of development. We offer a comprehensive curriculum that prepares children in every way to be participants in their own learning. We build self-efficacy in children through hands on experiences. All of our teachers hold degrees in Child Development and they know their stuff!! I am always impressed with their creative lessons as they engage the children and support them in skill building.
When considering a preschool, please make sure your teacher is qualified to teach, meaning she or he has a degree in the field of child dev or early childhood education (they are the most qualified to work with this specific age group) and that they follow the important guidelines of proper child-to-teacher ratios, and they are prepared to meet all of the needs of the children (social, cognitive, physical, emotional).
Thank you, as always, for reading!
