END OF THE YEAR!!

WOW! Our craziest week of the year is here! We're looking forward to our field trip to the zoo and our end of the year program. All of the details were emailed. Please let me know if you have any questions.

SPRING

I think it's safe to say that SPRING has arrived! This is great news, because spring is another fantastic season to learn about with the children. Our Earth Day field trip to the Nature Park was so much fun! Snakes, turtles, ducks, and a little park clean-up service project = success! The children have learned some valuable lessons about taking care of our Earth. LOVE THEM!!!

We've been planting in our classroom. We have several pots full of beautiful flowers. Our classroom is blooming with beauty! The children are loving these projects and learning so much. It's delightful to see them work with each other.

In May, we have our field trip to the Idaho Falls Zoo. Info will be coming home. Our end-of-the-year programs will be listed on the calendar. The last day of school is May 28th/29th.

REGISTRATION

WOW! It's that time of year - the time to prep for NEXT year! Our classes are filling up FAST. You can email, send a text, or even call to get your child's name on the list. Paper work and the registration fee ($25) are due in August. But having your child's name on the list now will hold their spot. Class times and tuition fees are listed at the top of this page. Thank you!

Volcanoes

Last week our letter of the week was V, and we were able to learn about volcanoes. We even got to watch a pretend volcano erupt in our classroom. We learned many interesting facts about volcanoes and watched a video and looked a pictures of real volcanoes around the world. 

Volcano Facts!

• Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's surface. When they are active they can let ash, gas and hot magma escape in sometimes violent and spectacular eruptions.
• The word volcano originally comes from the name of the Roman god of fire, Vulcan.
• Hot liquid rock under the Earth's surface is known as magma, it is called lava after it comes out of a volcano. 
• There are also volcanoes found on the ocean floor and even under icecaps, such as those found in Iceland. 
• Volcanic eruptions can send ash high into the air, over 17 miles above the Earth's surface. 
• Large volcanic eruptions can reflect radiation from the Sun and drop average temperatures on Earth by around half a degree.

Yellowstone Volcano

• Did you know that we live close to one of the largest volcanoes in the world? Yellowstone is the largest volcanic system in North America! The volcano is found above an intra-plate hot spot that has been feeding the magma chamber underneath Yellowstone for at least 2 million years. Yellowstone is also the world's largest hydrothermal system. It contains 182 geysers, mud pools and fumaroles. The most famous feature in Yellowstone is Old Faithful Geyser. Yellowstone is a great place to visit during the summer time! Yellowstone offers countless opportunities for discovery and fun. You may even see a grizzly bear! THINGS ARE HAPPENING

Preschool is a busy place. Lots to do, lots going on. Our Valentine's Day party is next week. The children are invited to share valentines with each other and they will be making a valentine bag to collect them in. 

Instead of a field trip this month, we're having a safety day at the preschool with the Rexburg Police Dept. They're coming in on the 10th/11th and bringing their police dogs.

We are currently taking names for registration next year. Classes are already filling up. We have 3 different class options, and the times and prices are listed at the top of the blog page. It will be the same as this year. You can email me at kinderreadykids@yahoo.com or call or text me (208)360-6836 to put your child's name on the list. That will hold your spot. In August, we'll have a registration day at the preschool. You can come over to fill out paper work and pay the $25 registration fee at that time. Thanks!!

JANUARY

It's always nice to have a break and it's always nice to get back on schedule. We've been having fun this month, learning about the Ocean (letter O) and the Planets (letter P). The children learned the names of the oceans, that the ocean water is salty, that 2/3 of the earth is water, and all about the animals and creatures that live in the oceans. We played a science game, "Sink or Float". Many of our classroom items were observed and we tried to decide if they would sink of float in water.

We've also learned the names of the planets in our solar system, and how the sun is NOT a planet, but a hot star. The children know a fun fact about each planet, and we observed actual photos from outer space. We are looking forward to our field trip tomorrow to the Planetarium. Check email for details.

For letter Q next week, we're talking about Quilts. The children will be making a class quilt. Also they should bring a quilt/blanket on Thursday/Friday to show to the class.
