We are now enrolling children for the 2015-2016 school year. Classes fill quickly so if you're interested, please contact me asap. I need your child's name, birth date, class preference, and email address. Having your child's name on the list will hold their spot.
On August 21st, we will hold our REGISTRATION DAY. On that day you can come over to the preschool, fill out paperwork, and pay the $25 registration fee.
Our first day of school is Monday, August 31st. From this day on, we follow the Madison School District calendar.

FIELD TRIP
Our field trip to the Planetarium is Friday the 6th. The details were sent home (they're on the back of the calendar) and they have also been emailed. We LOVE this field trip and we're so excited to take the children.
We've had such a great Space Week. The children have played "in outer space", created alien faces, studied moon rocks, learned the names of the planets, painted and created their own planets, and the list goes on and on. A huge THANK YOU to all the moms and dads who created adorable costumes for our Space Dress Up Day. Here is A dressed as a flying saucer. If you look close, it even has lights! You all are THE BEST!

WELCOME WINTER
Burrrr, it's getting cold. Please send hats, gloves, and coats to school with your child. We will still go outside to play if it's 20 degrees or warmer. Please label all items with your child's name. We have a lost and found box in the classroom and you are always welcome to come and search for items. :)
We enjoyed our class Charlie Brown Thanksgiving party with the children. We watched the movie and joined Snoopy, Charlie, and the Peanuts Gang as we all ate popcorn, toast, jelly beans, and pretzels. Our Mayflower boats were fun to eat our snack out of. Super fun day!!
Saturday, December 13th, is our Super Saturday. The children are invited to come to the preschool from 10-1 to make fun holiday crafts, decorate cookies, play in the snow (if we have some), enjoy hot chocolate, and just have fun! They need a lunch and outdoor gear.
Our class holiday parties will be on Thursday Dec 18th for the T/Th class, and Friday Dec 19th for the Mon-Fri and MWF classes. SANTA WILL BE THERE!!!!!!!! Watch for a sign up to be with the sign in/out sheet to help with goodies for our party.
Thanks for all you do! We're excited to work with the children through December - the magic of the season and the sparkle in their eyes is inspiring. They teach us all to "just believe!"
Happy winter!

FAQs
"Tell me about your preschool..." Where to begin! I started the preschool in my home in 2005. It grew and grew (like children do) and with children and interns and teachers.... it became crazy. We simply needed more space. I began renting a classroom from the Madison school district in 2010. In 2013 I merged my preschool business with the school district, and now we are a district preschool. The district contracts with me to run it.
"What do you work on?" Our main focus is to help children meet developmental milestones socially, emotionally, and physically. We want kids to be kids!! Our lesson plans and themes correlate with a letter of the alphabet each week: A if for Apple, B is for Bears, for example. We like to expose them to the alphabet through a print rich environment as they prepare for school. We also work on recognizing their name and writing it, number recognition, pre-literacy activities (rhyming, memorization of nursery rhymes), pre-math activites (sorting, counting, sequencing), lots of motor skill practice, and FUN!
"How many children/teachers are in each class?" We enroll 16 children per class. We have anywhere from 4-6 teachers in the classroom.
"Do you go outside in the winter?" We try! The district has a rule that the temp needs to be at least 10 degrees for outside play. But for the little ones, we prefer it to be at least 20. It's a good idea to pack snow clothes for them, in their backpacks. If the temp goes up, we go out!!
"What does a typical day consist of?" The first 45 mins/hour is exploratory play. Centers are set up for the children to roam through, and spend as much time as they'd like. It's very child directed. When time's up, a child rings the bell, we have a quick dance party, we clean up, and prepare for snack. Our daily snack helpers pass out napkins, give squirts of hand sanitizer, and we enjoy a healthy snack together (preschool provides the snack). After snack we have a music and movement segment and then head out to the playground. When the children come in, we meet at the big circle. Our calendar and weather checkers do their jobs, and then we have our lesson. After large group, we break into smaller groups to work on an activity that reinforces the large circle lesson. We meet for a goodbye song, and that's a wrap!
"Field trips??" YES and YES! We go on at least one field trip a month. Our favorites have been the BYUI planetarium, the BYUI animal museum, BYUI Gardens, Broulims, Rexburg Library, the Nature Park, Smith Park, and the Idaho Falls Zoo. We also have the fire dept and police dept visit us for safety days.
Please let me know if I can answer any questions that you might have.

ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT PRESCHOOL
Even though it's summer break, preschool is always on my mind. Whether I'm shopping for school supplies (I think I'm addicted to school supplies), planning art activities, writing lesson plans, or browsing the web, I'm always thinking of the kids. Some of my little friends are returning in the fall for another fun year of Pre-K, and many are future friends that I can't wait to meet!! I can already tell that it's going to be a great school year.
I love working at Adams. The children enjoy the feel of being at "big school". They refer to our play ground as the park. "Are we going to "the park" today?" So cute! It's a safe environment, designed for children. The school staff is amazing. What a great place Adams is!!
See you all soon!
