NEW CENTER IN THE CLASSROOM

When the children arrive at preschool, they spend time in exploratory play, working in different centers. The centers include dramatic play, art, literacy, math, science... This fall we are introducing a new center at our preschool. Drum roll please.......... FITNESS CENTER! This will be an area where the children can "work out" on the mini tramp, balance beam (low to the floor of course), do yoga or zumba. In addition to outside play, our preschoolers will be able to learn about being healthy as we encourage gross motor skill development. I'm super excited! YAY for being healthy!!!!!

It's that time of year. Classes are filling up fast so if you're interested in a spot, email me at kinderreadykids@yahoo.com or call me (see number above) to reserve a spot. I'm holding spots right now with your child's name only.

At the beginning of August we will have a registration day at the preschool. At this time you can fill out paper work and pay the $25 registration fee. If you email me for a spot, please give me your child's name, your address, phone #, birthday and class preference.

Thanks!

SPRING INTO SPRING!

Our calendar is sporting bee and flower numbers and we're quickly putting away the last of our winter art to make room for the greens, pinks, and yellows of spring. We're ready!!

We have worked our way to the end of the alphabet! This week we're on letter X. On Friday, March 15th, we'll be having the X Games at preschool. Children may bring their bikes, scooters, skates, footballs, basketballs, and all that good stuff to participate in eXtreme sports, preschool style.

Our Pre-Kinders are almost done with their alphabet books. They'll go home at the end of the month. We will be taking a look at letter blends and a little more work on vowels and rhyming words. I will be sending home a list of site words that you can expect them to be learning in kinder, just for a head start. We'll be practicing our number writing. I have some number rhymes to help them remember how to write them. I will also send home a copy so you can practice at home what we're doing at school.

Yea! for warmer weather. Please still wear sweatshirts and coats to school. Our little cubs are coming out of the den and they'll need to stay warm out on the playground. Reminder: please label all items. Thanks!

Just a quick update: We're back to school tomorrow, Jan 2nd. And we're right back to work as we learn about letter O. A calendar will come home with your child letting you know what we're working on this month.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back at school!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Please join me as we say THANK YOU and good luck to our interns who have finished their work in the classroom! Miss Andrae, Miss Andi, Miss Rachel, and Miss Amy: we will miss you!

The children have been spreading holiday cheer as we've worked together on projects. They are SO excited at this time of year. Letter L, M, and N have prompted lessons on lights, music, and naughty and nice! The teachers are having a little bit of fun too! :)

Santa will be at our party on Friday, December 21st. The sign up sheet to help out with treats will be on the clipboard this week. Thanks so much for always helping to make our parties so delicious!

May your holiday be bright with the spirit of joy, love, peace, and hope. Miss Kari

FIELD TRIP

Even though Mother Nature sent snow our way, we still had a great time in the Animal Museum today. The teachers agreed that our outdoor field trips are coming to an end. :(

The children were able to see many animals that are native to Idaho. They were also able to see those that are native to Africa as well. They made some good connections to where we live and what surrounds us.

This week, for letter Ii, we played a tic-tac-toe game using upper and lower case I's instead of X and O. It was great practice not only for letter writing, but also for learning to work with a partner and cooperate. We used clear plastic folders with the game inside, and wrote with dry erase markers that wipe of easily so we were able to play over and over. You can do the same thing at home with page protectors and dry erase markers. Pick any letter your child needs to work on and take turns being either the capital or lower case letter.

We're getting excited for the holidays! I'm already listening to "what Santa is bringing"! This time of year is so magical - especially with children. WE LOVE THEM!!!!!
