BOOK EXCHANGE
We are still collecting books for our book exchange. Please donate a gently used or new (under $5) gender-neutral book. If you can wrap it that would be extra awesome! Santa will give each child a book when they visit with him next week at our party. We would like the books by this Friday. Thanks!

SUPER SATURDAY
Just a quick reminder that Super Saturday is tomorrow from 10:00 - 2:00. Children need to bring a lunch. Snow clothes aren't needed, but coats and gloves would be great so we can spend some time outside. We will be making some fun holiday crafts, treats, singing songs, and reading stories.
Also on our "to -do" list is watching the film The Snowman. This is a beautiful interpretation of the classic children's book with the same title. It won "Best Short Film" a few years back (1982 I think). Take some time this season to view it. You can check out both the film and the book at the library.

READY, SET......DECEMBER!!
We can't WAIT to get started on our December preschool activities! There is a lot going on this month - please watch for the calendar to come home.
We are planning our Saturday with the children for December 10th. This is a day for you to drop off your child at the preschool while you go and get some Christmas shopping done! We will host them from 10am - 2:00pm. They should bring a lunch. We will provide a snack and some fun holiday crafts, as well as play some games. Please also pack snow clothes for them. We are planning some outside time if the weather cooperates!
Our Christmas parties this year will be held on the last day of class before the Christmas break, in the individual classes. Santa will be there! Our classes are definitely on his "nice list" this year! Santa will help us with our book exchange. I will send info about the book exchange and the party details home with your child.
Scholastic book orders are available to order online. The fliers will go home with the calendar at the beginning of December. They are open to order through December 7th. Let me know if they will be gifts and I will sneak them to you. A HUGE THANK YOU for all your orders! We have already received over $100 in free books, puzzles, and games for our classroom since September! AWESOME!!!

GIVING THANKS
I love to hear the children comment on the things they're thankful for. Of course at the top of the list is "mom", "dad", and an occasional sibling. However, Santa made the thankful list this year as well. Love that!
Our Thanksgiving luncheon is Tuesday, the 22nd. We will begin at 11:30. We are having it at the Park Street LDS Church. You can reach Park St from either S. 5th West or from Pioneer Road.
I'm so thankful for all of your children and the light they each bring to the classroom. Thanks to you all for all you do for them and for sharing them with me! Miss Kari

NOVEMBER BEAUTY
Halloween was fabulous! TONS of fun!! Thank you to all of you for the great costumes and yummy treats!
This month we are learning about how animals prepare for winter. We've had some very educational lessons about squirrels and turtles and even the teachers are learning a lot! The week before Thanksgiving is our Thankful Week. What a special time of year for the children to share their feelings about the things and people in their lives that they love! This is one of my favorite weeks at school!!
Calendar items: Nov 22nd is our 7th annual Thanksgiving luncheon! Plan for 11:30 at the Park Street LDS church. The children will be performing a poem and a few of our favorite songs. Don't forget your camera! Scholastic book orders are due on Nov 10th. You can order online at www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. Our class code is GQRPN. Thanks!

PRESCHOOL UPDATES
What have we been up to? FALL FUN! Our apple orchard field trip was HEAVY! The trees are 43 LBS lighter! Yes, we picked 43 LBS of apples! And I hope you're all enjoying them. We ate more of them for snack today. They are yummy dipped in peanut butter, caramel, or chocolate. Or even just alone - nature's perfect food.
We are in leaf mode right now. We touched squash plant leaves, apple tree leaves, maple tree leaves, birch tree leaves.... we watched a demonstration of how plants "suck up" water. Today we played at Smith Park and collected leaves, pine cones, and rocks and created lovely sculptures with our nature finds.
Next week is Halloween pandemonium! One of my favorite book making projects is next week. Also, watch for a sign up to help with treats for our party. BOO!!
